Prestigious Awards

Support for faculty awarded external grants.

Overview

Faculty who are awarded fellowships from external granting institutions may apply to the Associate Dean for support under the Prestigious Awards Program (PRST). If approved, Dartmouth will make up the difference between the award amount and the faculty member's compensation (base salary and benefits).

The proposed teaching and leave schedule must be entered in the Schedule Adjustment Request Portal. Awards for $50,000 or more from one of the following prestigious programs confers 2 terms of PRST leave: Guggenheim Foundation, Andrew Carnegie Fellows Program, National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS), Fulbright Program. Eligibility

All tenure and tenure-track faculty members of the Arts and Sciences.

Acceptance of support carries a commitment to return to the faculty for no less than one year. The faculty member will owe Dartmouth one course to be taught as an overload.

Funding

If approved, Dartmouth will make up the difference between the award amount and the faculty member's base salary while continuing to provide all benefits.

The Business Expense Policy details these and other expenditures and reimbursements. If there is a question concerning the eligibility of an expense, the expense should be reviewed with an analyst in the A&S Finance Center.
