Dartmouth has received three Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District I Excellence Awards, including top honors in the special events and impactful microsites categories.
The awards recognize an Office of Communications' website chronicling Dartmouth's off-campus earth sciences program, which takes students on a 3,000-mile scientific expedition through the American West, and two special events produced by the Advancement division to celebrate the college's 250th anniversary.
CASE is the leading membership organization for educational advancement professionals. Its Excellence Awards honor individuals and schools doing innovative work in the fields of special events, fundraising, stewardship, volunteer engagement, alumni relations, student alumni initiatives, advancement services, and communications.
District 1, CASE's North Atlantic region, includes New England and the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Quebec.
The CASE District I Excellence Awards include the following:
- A gold award in the impactful microsites category for On the Road with the Stretch, an interactive website featuring video, photographs, and stories about the earth sciences program that takes students through six states and provinces, from the glaciers of the Canadian Rockies to the floor of the Grand Canyon.
- A gold award in the special events category for Light It Green! Celebrating 250 Years at Dartmouth College. For the event, which launched the anniversary celebrations, more than a dozen landmarks around the world were bathed in green light, and alumni and friends were encouraged to share pictures of themselves "greening out" in view of one of the landmarks. The images were shared live across the world and through social media outlets and Dartmouth's newsletter, email blasts, and website.
- A silver award in the special events category for Only in New York! Celebrating Dartmouth's 250th Anniversary. The event, held in New York City, ran concurrently with Light it Green! It included a skating party, service project, speakers, and reception, and featured President Philip J. Hanlon '77, CNN's Jake Tapper '91, and actor David Harbour '97.
