Nancy Fraser, Dartmouth's Roth Distinguished Scholar and Didier Eribon, Dartmouth's Montgomery Fellow will be presenting a panel discussion on issues surrounding Capitalism and Class. Critical accounts of capitalism often focus on that great open secret of American life: “class.” But how exactly should we understand class divisions in capitalist societies and the injustices associated with them? Do efforts to redress those injustices necessarily stand in a zero-sum relation to struggles against other, more widely acknowledged inequities, including those of gender, race, sexuality and ethnicity? Or might they be re-envisioned in ways that synergize with the latter?
