Carey's newly extended term will run through June 2024.

Dear colleagues,

John Carey

Since taking on the role of associate dean in 2019, John has strengthened and elevated the Social Sciences Division. His steady leadership played an integral role in supporting our faculty and staff through the disruptions of the pandemic, and in guiding the recruitment of exceptional scholars across the social sciences. All the while, John has continued his scholarly work, earning research grants from such organizations as the National Science Foundation and co-authoring papers on threats to American democracy, campus diversity, and conspiracy theories.

As we prepare for our presidential transition and continue exploring the organizational structure of the Arts and Sciences, I asked John to extend his term by one year. John's continued excellent leadership will help ensure ongoing momentum in the coming year.

I am deeply grateful for John's insights and leadership as part of the Wentworth team. Please join me in congratulating him on his extended appointment as associate dean.

With best wishes,

Elizabeth F. Smith
Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences
